Este es el argumento para realizar qualifiers sin equipos entranjeros en Chile:
Mas informacion en:About the restriction of the Chilean qualifier to foreign teams, this is the full explanation.
1st.- We as an official CPL qualifier host, can't make any change to the CPL official rules and restrictions. So, if our tournament is restricted is because CPL allow us to do it. Our position It's perfectly correct from the point of view of CPL as Angel and Tonya have confirmed on this forums.
2nd.- The reason why of this restriction is this. As you know, the gaming activity is still very small, so the sponsors are very difficult to get...and I can say you, the expenses are very high, including travel expenses from our far away countries to USA. Like everywhere in the world, the sponsors wants to get marketing benefits for support this kind of events. Here is the final point: A chilean company will have a lot of extra marketing benefits if "The Company sends a chilean team to the World Championships" that if the winner is a foreign team. I think that this is very easy to understand. We have made two CPL qualifiers in the past without restrincting the nationality of the teams and our sponsors of that events were VERY worried about the possibility of have a foreign winner. Fortunally for our sponsors, both times the winner was a chilean team.
So we, as an organizer, have the obligation to meet all the high standards and requirements CPL has for all their branded events. To meet those requirements we need excellent sponsors. To get excellent we need to give them excellent marketing benefits...You see?
That's the reason of the restriction: Sponsors. It's all about sponsors. Without them, all our activities would be no possible, including the CPL itself.
I really understand your worries. Last season, Punto cL from Chile traveled to Perú and won the qualifier there. I know that the peruvian host had a lot of inconveniences. The same happened in Chile with an argentinian team in a qualifier organized by another company. I don't want "a chilean team at CPL"...I wan't a succesfull CPL chilean event; that's what CPL ask us to do, and we'll do our best, always following the rules and procedures they sent to us.
I really hope that gaming continues to grow in south america, and I expect that Argentina would have a qualifier as it has been said in this forums as well.
Best regards
